Training Needs Analysis

A Training Needs Analysis is an analysis of the training, learning and development needs of the employees in an organisation.  It considers the skills, knowledge and behaviours of the people in the organisation and how to develop them, both to deliver the organisation’s business objectives and to support the individual’s career progression.

A Training Needs Analysis should ideally be taken at three levels:

  • Organisational
  • Team
  • Individual

These three levels are all intrinsically linked and undertaking a Training Needs Analysis that encompasses all the areas, will ensure that the ‘whole picture’ is captured and ensure that the subsequent interventions will meet the needs of the business and move it forward in the best and most impactful way.

Future Performance has vast experience in developing and delivering an organisations Training Needs Analysis.  After an initial business consultation meeting, we devise an appropriate Training Needs Analysis plan that will incorporate all appropriate areas and people.

We will use a number of methods to carry out a Training Needs Analysis and will select and bespoke the methods that best suit the organisations needs and culture.  Methods may include;

  • Annual performance reviews/appraisals
  • Progress meetings
  • Questionnaires
  • Interviews
  • Observations
  • Focus groups
  • Knowledge and skill assessment

On completion of the Training Needs Analysis, a formal findings report will be presented that also recommends meaningful learning interventions and a future development and learning plan that is based on organisational, team and individual needs.
